Judy Schiller of Simplicity Now says,”As your life becomes simpler, everything you do suddenly has a clearer purpose: to create an even happier, more loving life for yourself, for those you love, and for the greater world.”

How does simplification help your health? Easy! With less clutter you begin to see the possibilities for more freedom.

Judy’s advice?
- Just begin. Start somewhere. Choose one habit to change.
- Release yourself from attachments.
- Donate food from your pantry to the food bank… pet food too. Though you may not need those bags of chips or canned spaghetti, those foods could help someone who can’t afford it to have a meal.

Rosemary’s Solutions For Simplification
1. Re-Ignite. What is the passion that drives your day? Once you refocus your intentions, all of the other unnecessary elements fall away. To help you refocus and re-ignite, write yourself a message, have a picture on the refrigerator or computer, or create the vision in your mind. Does your intention include a slimmer, more vibrant you? Peel away the “stuff” that no longer serves your purpose. Once you clear your focus the spark will light a fire that is unstoppable!

2. Re-create. To bring in a new, more vibrant health means that you can give yourself a make-over. Sure, it can include make-up. But a health make-over means creating new habits and seeing yourself in a different light. Create the image you have of yourself as an active person, full of energy, feeling great, sleeping well, eating fresh foods. Those these image make-overs seem far away now, creating yourself in a new way helps make those changes easier… simpler!

3. Walk away. You know what I’m talking about. Walk away from the clutter in your space, in your mind and in your pantry. Walk away from poor food choices. Walk away from situations that stress you or exploit you. When you do, you’ll be walking toward better choices, better situations and a better you. Oh, and walking is a good idea too!

I mark important events and intentions with crystals, sometimes making a beautiful crystal grid. Last month, before teaching a Reiki Master class, I tuned in to my crystals to see which ones would be right for this very special occasion. The Reiki Master students are special indeed, already practicing Reiki and living with higher awareness and intentions every day.

My attention was drawn to green turquoise, a new addition to my crystalline family. Though placing the crystals only occurs after I have gathered all of the participants, I knew the green turquoise would be in the center.

Choosing crystals comes naturally to me, selecting crystals not based on what a book says about them, nor the color, but rather the feel of the vibration and sometimes a simple message of “choose me” coming from the assortment in my wooden bowl. Holding each stone to which I am drawn affirms their inclusion into the grid.

Sometimes crystal grids demand direction with single pointed quartz crystals. Sometimes a specific number or type of crystal needs to be arranged with geometric care. This time, however, for the Reiki Master class, the selection resulted in stones all expressing the highest vibrations; for clarity, spirituality, purity, light and centered-ness. I believe my students were pleased. The grid still holds the energy of intention for them while they integrate Reiki Master energies until our next meeting. Next time, we’ll likely see a new selection of crystals for the grid.

Finding the Joy in Life can be challenging sometimes. Don’t you agree? I’m talking about those days when everything seems to be going wrong and the misfortunes pile up. You might wonder if someone is plotting against you! If you find yourself in that situation I hope you don’t let the circumstances get you down. It is when we become distracted by what’s “wrong” that we miss what’s “right” in our lives.

I had to laugh. It was one of those days when a few unexpected events could have brought me down. I sliced my hand significantly on my glass pitcher as it bounced off the porcelain sink. Later, I parked in the wrong place downtown (I never saw the garage door) and had a ticket on my window that said “TOW”. Worse things could have happened to you, but I generally don’t have these experiences.

Fortunately I managed without stitches and I was minutes ahead of the tow truck, thus avoiding further charges. If I spent my time worrying about the bad I would have missed the good outcomes of both situations. I was able to purchase a better, lighter blender for my delicious smoothies (recipe here) and meet with a few amazing new business connections from the networking event I attended. All-in-all, I counted the price of the parking ticket as a lesson learned and a cost of doing business.

What are your lemons in life? Have you “made lemonade” from the situation? Follow these steps if you need a little help.

1. Start your day with intention. Pick a good one! Add an affirmation to make your intention more powerful such as “I feel terrific!”, “I am an amazing organizer.”, “I see the bright side of all situations.” It doesn’t really matter if you believe these affirmations at first. Repeat them often and your behavior will prove you are right.

2. Smile when you speak. It’s amazing how your words and your attitude change when your physical actions dominate. Even over the phone, the smile in your voice will shine through. When speaking face-to-face with someone who is smiling, you can’t help but smile too. So be the first one to smile. You’ll be glad you did.

3. Choose. You can choose to be happy, choose to be optimistic, bright, positive, etc. If these choices seem foreign to you, then it may take a little practice. Start with one situation at a time. Life is all about choices. You always get to choose how you feel.

4. Be observant. Look for situations and people who seem positive, bright and cheery. They’ll be easier to find when you are the one adding your smile. Positive people attract more positive people. Who would you like to have in your circle? If you’re sad, pessimistic, critical, etc, you will attract more people into your circle who are like that. Even worse, you’ll be alone. Others will figure it out and not want to be around you.

5. Reconnect to nature. Get outside, go to the beach, go for a hike or a simple walk. Ok I’ll say it. Hug a tree. Changing your environment to bring the outside in can also help. Bring plants or a water fountain into your work space.

6. Pet an animal. Animals understand you better than you think. Their calm nature or funny disposition seems to be what you always need, whether you realize it or not. Before you know it, you’ll be smiling, calmer, happier and more at peace.

7. Add Reiki to your life. Reiki is all about “the Greatest and Highest Good”. When you start your day with Reiki and use Reiki often, you’ll develop these positive habits a lot faster and attract more good into your life.

By the way, when I cut my hand accidentally that morning, I used Reiki right away and felt no pain from the cut. Reiki protects me even when I’m not thinking about it because I start my day with Reiki.

Stuff happens. We all get lemons once in a while. When stuff happens to you, remember these tips.

You would never buy them if you knew they were toxic and yet the FDA has issued repeated warnings over the years, cautioning consumers about toxic chicken jerky (strips, tenders, etc) from China. But it’s not just chicken jerky you need to be concerned about. You can review the complete list of food recalls from the FDA website.
Most recently, toxic dog treats include sweet potatoes, also from China. The suspected toxin is a pesticide, phorate, that is a neurotoxin to insects but a nephrotoxin (poisons kidney tissue) to animals. Concern extends not only to the dogs who eat the treats but also to the people who handle the treats.

Follow these simple rules when selecting treats for your pet.
1. Buy USA manufactured and packaged foods.
2. Keep it simple. Fewer ingredients and less processing are generally better. For example, RealMeatTreats.com carries a line of treats that are 95% meat without antibiotics, hormones, preservatives, colors or additives.
3. Avoid smoked bones or smoked treats, plastic or nylon bones, rawhide chews and other strange looking non-natural ingredients. All contain toxins or artificial ingredients that may cause digestive issues, choking hazards, kidney failure or cancer.
4. Avoid grains, sugars, colorings and preservatives. Those bright colored biscuits or cute shapes have nothing to do with good health or clean teeth.

You can always have a little fun and make your own treats (like Gracie’s Favorite Salmon Treats) or give a raw meaty bone. Your dog will thank you and you can rest assured that the treat will be as intended . . . a good treat!

As always, take preventive measures daily to avoid and remove toxins. We use activated liquid zeolite. Learn more here http://RosemarysSolutions.com/zeolite.html
Please share your ideas and great finds below.

Some people think that giving a dog crunchy food or treat helps clean their

cleaning your dog's teeth is important for pet health

dog’s teeth. But does the chewing action really help when your dog eats kibble? Imagine if you relied on crunchy foods to clean your teeth. Would toasted granola or a tough beef jerky effectively scrape the plaque from your teeth? Probably not. Your dentist would likely have some suggestions for better oral hygiene too. So, what really is important for your pet’s healthy teeth? How can you maintain healthy teeth for your dog between vet visits?

Holistic Health For Pet’s Teeth
To know what really works for domestic animals we have to take a look at animals in the wild. What do the wild canines and felines eat and chew? How healthy are these wild animals and can we relate our pet’s health to what we learn from the wild?

If you’re feeding your dog processed foods, kibble or canned, they are probably missing out on vital nutrients, enzymes and proteins that help build a strong body, bones, teeth and immune system. More importantly, additives and fillers commonly added to most commercial pet foods can do more harm than good. Grains (including corn, rice, oats, barley and wheat) are not meant to be part of the main pet diet. They are fillers that add carbohydrates which, in the long run, contribute to weight gain, diabetes and cancer. Protein sources for many commercial pet foods are not meat but rather meat by-products or “meal”, for example beaks and hooves which add little nutritional value.

How to Have Healthy Teeth in Pets
1. Diet- One of the strongest influences on the health of your pet’s teeth is

Gracie enjoys a raw food diet, balanced with supplements

the quality of the food. Feeding a raw diet or a diet as close to raw as possible gives multiple benefits such as appropriate proteins and vitamins, calcium, natural oils and enzymes. Commercial foods, though well intended, contain carbohydrates, chemicals and additives that can contribute to tooth decay and compromise the health of your dog. Learn more about Dog Food here.

2. Supplement- Building a healthy body from the inside works better in all aspects of health especially when the immune system is supported. Consider how adding these supplements could help your pet have healthier teeth:
– Probiotics and “good” bacteria support a healthy gut and healthy bacteria in the mouth.
– Antioxidants from dark greens and fruits are important for repairing cells damaged from stress, toxins and free radicals.
– Oils such as fish oil, flax oil, coconut oil and certain essential oils have long range benefits to work as antioxidants, have an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial benefits, support a healthy heart, lubricate joints and assimilate other nutrients.
– Vitamins found in uncooked fruits and vegetables keep their value, but change to be ineffective after cooking and processing.
– Minerals help assimilate vitamins (for example, Calcium works with Vitamin D) and work in the body to help with all functions such as building bones and teeth, keeping joints and blood healthy. The right balance between vitamins and minerals comes from eating whole foods, but certain supplements add essential nutrients not always available in our food sources.
– the Dynamic Duo. More than any other supplements, these two natural wonders make keeping your pet healthy so much easier. What are they? Natural Cellular Defense and Agarigold. Learn more by clicking the links and reading about Gracie’s teeth cleaning.
When specific supplements are added to the diet, the immune system works better. The body then produces white blood cells which attack germs, including those in the mouth which cause decay, builds strong bones and teeth, and keeps the mind alert and active to survive and thrive.

3. Raw bones. Here’s where the chewing action of food can really help reduce and remove plaque buildup. A leisurely gnaw on a raw bone (not cooked or smoked) has several benefits:

Gracie enjoys a raw meaty bone

– Actively remove plaque build-up on teeth
– Massage the gums and exercise the jaw muscles
– Remove food debris
– Provide essential calcium for strong teeth and bones
– Marrow supplies fat-soluble vitamins and micro-nutrients including iron, vitamin A and phosphorous
Avoid cooked or smoked bones. Raw bones are naturally soft enough to chew without breaking into sharp chards. Once cooked or smoked, bones become brittle and dangerous. Not only that, but chemically treated bones available in stores seem like a great treat but they likely contain harmful additives, preservatives and carcinogens (cancer causing substances).

4. Regular inspection and care. You can keep a close watch on your dog’s health simply by noticing the signs during play, cuddle or grooming time. Gums should be pink, not pale or bright red. There should be no swelling or tenderness. Look for any cracks or breaks, stains, plaque or debris that could indicate a need for dental care or cleaning. Bad breath can be a result of infection, poor diet, plaque, excessive bacteria or serious illness.

- use clean instruments and brushes, sterilizing with alcohol between uses

If right now you could have 3 things in life to bring about good health for the rest of your life, what would they be? Depending on which expert you site, you might learn that stress is the major cause of disease. But so is poor nutrition. How about toxins in the environment that have invaded your cells?

Well, which is it? Stress. Nutrition. Toxins. These are the Big Three you can’t ignore. Focus on one and you might miss the rest of the picture. That’s why a holistic approach to good health is not only best, but also most cost effective for living a long and healthy life.

Follow these tips for your healthier life:
3 Tips for Better Nutrition
Easier said than done, sometimes eating a better assortment of foods feels like a sacrifice… no sugar, no chips, no this or that. The truth is that your body knows what it needs and responds almost immediately to better food choices.

Where do you start? Begin with the obvious, of course:

1. Choose foods as close to natural and raw as possible. The more prepared a food is (canned or packaged), the less likely it will have what you really need.

2. Eat smaller portions more often throughout the day. Snacking on a few well chosen morsels such as kale chips (homemade recipe for Crispy Spicy Kale Chips on my blog) can curb hunger and keep your blood sugar levels more even throughout the day. Eat more vegetables and fruits compared to smaller amounts of other foods. You’ll know you have it right when your plate is filled with colorful foods.

3. Supplement with targeted nutrition and a good liquid supplement. Though you can get many good nutrients from food, the truth is that we still need certain supplements to help balance the immune system or promote healthy rebuilding for joints or heart health. Supplements can do that.

The benefits may surprise you. As your tastes change for more naturally delicious foods you’ll reduce your cravings for processed foods. Not only that, you’ll automatically eliminate additives, preservatives and toxins that lead to metabolic imbalances.

3 Tips to Reduce Stress
Stress helped primitive man survive. Running from danger or having quick reactions were necessary but infrequent. Releasing adrenaline to tense muscles, create rapid heart beat and breathing are still the stress responses the body has today. But the circumstances have changed. Stress is a response to traffic, anger and annoyances, violent TV and movies and financial worry.
More than that, today’s food and environment add more stress in the form of toxins.

Follow these 3 easy tips to help reduce stress:

1. Breathe. A subconscious reaction to stress is to hold your breath and tense your muscles. Adding your intention to deliberate, calm, deep breathing can be your easiest and most readily available stress reducer.

2. Reconnect with nature. Turn off the TV, get away from the computer and turn off the phone. When you’re outside you reconnect with your greatest energy source and become more grounded.

3. Let go. Holding onto stress and tension can lead to physical pain and disease. If you don’t know how to let go or feel that you can’t let go, try exercise or yoga, meditation or energy work such as Reiki or counseling with an experienced practitioner.

3 Tips to Remove Toxins

Toxins are the number one cause of disease, premature aging, birth defects and genetic mutations. Too vast to list here, toxins range from heavy metals to plastics in our food, water and air. Though at least 80% of the toxins we are exposed to come from food (pesticides and fertilizers, heavy metals and plastics), our newborn children who have not yet taken even one bite of food are even more toxic than newborns in previous generations.

Follow these 3 tips to reduce and remove toxins:
1. Become aware. Learn about hidden sources of toxicity in your home, foods and products you buy. A great resource is the Environmental Working Group www.EWG.org

2. Take steps to reduce toxins you add to your environment and to your body. You can’t avoid toxins completely, but with conscientious decisions you can choose to avoid harmful chemicals like synthetic air fresheners and harsh cleaning products, garden pesticides, bleach and even some makeups.

3. Remove toxins. Detoxify with pure and gentle Natural Cellular Defense zeolite. This one action alone will help everything else you do work better. With your Body Burden lifted, nutrients will be better absorbed, inflammation is reduced, sleep can be better and all metabolic imbalances may be gradually corrected. Learn more about zeolite here.

Crispy Spicy Kale Chips Recipe
Ingredients:
• about one bunch of organic kale, rinsed and dried
• Olive oil
• Sea Salt, to taste
• dash soy sauce
• about 1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes (or to taste)
• 2 tablespoons fresh Tahini

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Remove the kale leaves from their tough end and inner stems. Tear longer leaves in half or preferred bite size pieces.
3. Place kale pieces in large bowl. Massage in 1 tablespoon olive oil. Then add 2 tablespoons Tahini with soy sauce and massage in again to cover the leaves. The kale leaves only need to be lightly coated. Then sprinkle with sea salt and red pepper flakes. Toss gently with your fingers. (ok to lick when you’re done!)
4. Put the kale pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet very lightly oiled or lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until crisp, flipping once during the baking time.
5. For more smoky or spicy flavor, lightly dust the kale chips with paprika or cayenne pepper power.

Have you ever tasted olive oil that has been infused with delicious fresh herbs or garlic? It changes the whole experience and enjoyment of the oil, doesn’t it? I feel that way about Reiki and life. Life is great every day with my family and friends, my animals and my work… but Reiki makes it better. Every breath, every conversation and every walk with my dog is somehow a more enjoyable experience . . . in spite of the rain!

It’s hard to beat an intention that addresses the “Greatest and Highest Good”. That’s where we begin with all Reiki sessions. To use the “Greatest and Highest Good” to start your day may reveal a slight shift in how you feel at the end of the day and how you relate to other people and situations throughout the day.

This shift may not be immediately noticed. After all, Reiki is a practice, so the intentions may take time to integrate or become infused into your life. Just as an infusion of herbs in oil takes time to reach the right flavor, continued Reiki practice becomes an integrated habit.

Once Reiki becomes infused into your life you might wonder how you ever managed without it. Even doing the dishes or driving in traffic seem to flow with less effort and concern. You might call it Joy, Peace or Calm. You may also feel Empowered and more in control. You can let go of the frantic worries of your environment and receive the Bounty of Abundance. Explore the possibilities when you infuse Reiki into your day.

What experiences can you share about infusing positive intentions and/or Reiki into your day? Tell us here with your comment.

You may be able to relate to the affirmation I made today, in fact. Where I have noticed a few pounds creeping on and liking the new “home”, namely my waistline, I decided that by the end of May I would feel the lightness of 10 less pounds. My affirmation, in this case was not verbalized with words, but more of a feeling of what it would be like at my future weight.

Using visualization and Reiki to enhance my success I will begin each meal with a question, asking myself if these choices serve my goal and my Greatest and Highest Good. I don’t eat any junk as it is (well, I am addicted to ice cream) but I believe that creating this new habit and affirmation will help me achieve my goal.

Do you have a goal to achieve? Can you use affirmations in your daily choices? The statements you make are all affirmations, whether good or bad, positive or negative. Add your positive intentions and affirmations to my blog. Let’s hold each other accountable with support. We’re here to help make a difference for each other.
